Whether you’re passionate about discussing the publishing industry, sharing your perspective on literary topics, or telling an original story, we’d love to hear from you.

Opinion Articles

Opinion Articles explore topics related to books, reading, publishing, and literary culture.

Examples include (but are not limited to):

Original Short Stories

We welcome original fiction from both new and established writers.

Accepted genres include:

Have thoughts about a previous issue or a topic in the literary world? We'd love to hear them.

  • 250–750 words

  • Respectful and constructive

Reader Recommendations

& Reviews

Share a book you think others should discover.

Reviews should focus on thoughtful discussion rather than numerical ratings.

Requirements

  • 300–1,000 words

  • Spoilers should be clearly labeled

  • Submitted as a PDF

Formatting Requirements

All submissions must:

  • Be written in English

  • Use 12 pt font

  • Use Times New Roman, Garamond, or Courier New

  • Include page numbers

  • Include the author's name on the first page

  • Be submitted as a single PDF attachment


Email Requirements

Please include the following information in the body of your email:

  • Full Name

  • Pen Name (if applicable)

  • Submission Category

  • Title of Submission

  • Word Count

  • A brief 1–3 sentence bio

  • Whether the work has been published elsewhere

  • AI usage disclosure (or state that no AI tools were used)

Attach your submission as a single PDF to the email.


AI Usage Disclosure

Please disclose any use of artificial intelligence in the creation of your submission.

Examples include:

  • Brainstorming

  • Outlining

  • Writing assistance

  • Editing

  • Proofreading

  • Translation

  • Research assistance

If AI was not used, please indicate that as well.


Compensation

The Quill & Ink House Newspaper is a community publication.

At this time, contributors are not financially compensated for accepted submissions.

Publication is voluntary and offers contributors the opportunity to:

  • Receive a published byline

  • Build their writing portfolio

  • Share their work with the Quill & Ink House community

  • Include their author name, pen name, website, and/or social media when applicable

Submission should not be considered paid freelance work.

Rights & Permissions

Authors retain full ownership and copyright of their work.

By submitting your work, you grant Quill & Ink House a non-exclusive license to publish your submission if it is selected.

Publication does not transfer ownership of your work.

Editorial Review

Every submission is reviewed by the Quill & Ink House editorial team.

Selection is based on originality, quality, clarity, and available space within each issue.

Minor edits for grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and style may be made before publication. Contributors will be contacted regarding any substantive editorial changes.

Submission does not guarantee publication.

Response Time

Please allow approximately 2–4 weeks for review.
